When it comes to Verizon’s Windows Phone 8 lineup, we originally heard that there would be three devices to start: the Lumia 822, HTC 8X and Samsung ATIV Odyssey. Unfortunately, when it actually came to the launch, it seemed that the ATIV was notably missing. Now e have a new leaked press image of the device from famous Twitter tech leaker, Evleaks.
While the Lumia and 8X both have designs that somewhat seem different from Android and iPhone looks and feels, the Samsung ATIV Odyssey pretty much looks like a typical Samsung Android device with Windows Phone 8 thrown on it. Whether you consider that good or bad is a matter of opinion.
As for the hardware, the phone will have a 4.65-inch AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm dual-core Snapdragon MSM8960 CPU, 8MP rear cam, 2MP front cam and NFC technology. There will also be 4G LTE.
The Lumia 822 and HTC 8x might have a head start, but the Samsung ATIV Odyssey should arrive sometime this year as well. Windows Phone 8 represents a major change for mobile Windows, switching to the NT core found with desktop Windows variants. It also is extremely easy for makers of other mobile apps (iOS/Android) to port their efforts to Windows Phone 8. Whether these changes will make the new platform a bigger success than Windows Phone 7 remains unseen for now.
What do you think of Windows Phone 8 and Verizon’s Windows offerings?
