RetroUI Provides Start UI Alternative, Now Receives New Update

For those that are looking for a way to get all the greatness of Windows 8 without the learning curve that comes with, RetroUI is often billed as one of the best ways to do it.

Unlike programs such as Start8, this doesn’t just bring back a start menu, it combines things from the new start screen with an older style desktop approach.

Simply put, you now log directly in the desktop and have a start menu that can be customized and even includes access to all the Start UI apps and Windows Store.

This makes the learning curve shorter and allows new users to jump while experiencing what they already know. For many of us, the best approach might be to just adapt and get used to the new UI, but this doesn’t work for everyone.

That’s why it is nice to have alternatives. Now it seems that RetroUI is getting even more useful with a new update that supports auto-logins, and many other new features. RetroUI also removes hot corners from the desktop.

If you’ve been looking for an alternative launcher that works like a cross between the Start UI and the start menu, this isnt’ a bad option.

That said, it isn’t free. RetroUI will set you back $4.95 for one license, or $9.95 for three.

What do you think, is a program like this worth the money or if you want the start menu back should you go with one of the free alternatives that ditch the Windows Store apps altogether?

It also allows you to run Metro apps on the classic desktop!

I just don’t get what the big learning curve is with the metro interface is. After 5 minutes of playing with I decided I like it better then the old unorganized mess known as the start menu.

I think people never got over the idea of no start menu , they didn’t even gave the new start a try say at least a week or say.,.just jumped to the conclusion that they want start menu back. And now if I try this software it or another it feels weird .
