Samsung fans interested in Windows Phone over Android have pretty much had two option as of late. The first option is to jump ship to Nokia or HTC. The second, is to put up with their Windows Phone 7 Samsung handset a little longer and pray that the Samsung ATIV S eventually arrives like promised.
The good news is that the Samsung ATIV S is starting to surface. For those in the UK, it is now available through Clove and Expansys. Still no official word on a U.S. Arrival, but a new leak suggests that Bell in Canada will get the handset on December 14th. If true, the United States probably isn’t too far behind.
So, how does Samsung’s offering stack up compared to the Nokia Lumia 920 or HTC 8x? Actually, they are quite similarly spec’d. The ATIV S features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 4.8-inch super AMOLED HD display, 16GB storage and microSD. Other specs include 8MP rear cam, 1.9MP front cam, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and a 2300 mAh battery. The device also weighs in around 135 grams.
That said, the design is probably a bit on the boring side when compared to HTC and Nokia. Windows Phone 8 handsets have thus-far been very colorful devices. The Samsung ATIV S’ styling is more on par with the Galaxy S3 and other Android handsets than it is other members of the Windows Phone 8 crowd.
So how about it, when the Samsung ATIV S arrives will you consider getting it or are you already sold on an HTC or Nokia handset? Conversely, are you waiting off for the upcoming Huawei W1 and W2 Ascend?
