Microsoft Improves SkyDrive Website with Better Drag-And-Drop and More

In a new Windows blog post Microsoft announced that they are improving their SkyDrive cloud solution by improving its sharing and HTML5 features via their website. The idea is that the website will perform much faster across a wider range of devices.

If Microsoft wants to take on cross-platform competitors like DropBox in a big way, having a fast performing site that works well on a variety of devices is certainly a good step in the right direction. Other web-based changes include an integrated view of sharing permissions, and better drag-and-drop and touch support. Additionally, Microsoft has moved all of its sharing information and features into a single location, to simplify the whole process.

While SkyDrive has been around for a while now, it is really starting to pick up steam of late. Part of this has to do with improved integration in their Windows mobile (Windows 8, Windows Phone) products, but reaching out to non-Microsoft platforms will be equally important if they want to truly expand their cloud market share.

Have you checked out their new website? If so, what do you think of the changes– better or not?
