DrivePop – a lifetime of unlimited cloud storage for your Mac or PC

online cloud backup solution - DrivePop

Rob Boirun, the CEO of DrivePop hit me up recently and asked me to do a review of their new service DrivePop so here goes.

What is DrivePop?

DrivePop is an online cloud backup solution for PC’s or Macs that enables you to keep your precious files, artifacts and documents in the cloud. It works by taking copies of those files and storing them safely away from your PC or Mac so in the event of a hard drive failure or some other catastrophe, you’ll be able to retrieve them quickly.

How does DrivePop work exactly?

As soon as you sign up for Drivepop you will get an installer file for Livedrive. The installer is available for both the Mac and the PC.

Once you download it, you start the Livedrive installation and configuration process.

During the installation you get to choose which folders you want to backup and then these get automatically backed up to your Drivepop Livedrive storage.

After the installation process is complete, you’ll see a live drive icon in the bottom right of your task bar. The icon can be clicked on to change your configuration options or add/remove folders as you choose.

You are also able to set a backup schedule and this determines when LiveDrive scans for files to backup to your LiveDrive account.

Set a backup schedule for your files

For the purposes of my review, I set my backups to occur only between 2am and 6am every morning to match my sleep window (don’t ask). If you’re ready to start backing files up immediately, you can select “real time backup” but if you are constantly creating new content files or updating files you will always have the upload going on in the background.

How long did it take?

Well I have a lot of movies and large apps on my hard drive so it took me about several hours but I was able to back up 16.7 GB of data to my Livedrive account.

Overall the process was pretty straightforward and there weren’t many moving parts so even a lower end computer user will be able to set this up and get it running.

The process is pretty straightforward and simple and I liked the fact that it could backup in the background or on a schedule so it works around your preference.

I think that this is something every PC user needs to have – a solid cloud backup solution for their Mac or PC.

DrivePop’s offer to you (the reader)

Now typically cloud backup solutions like this one charge by the month or annually because of the value of the software but Rob and I have been able to work out a special deal for readers of this blog for this month.

DrivePop is offering my readers a LIFETIME license for UNLIMITED cloud backups for one payment. No annual fees. Ever.

You heard that right – you basically have as long as you want to back up as many files as you want and you only have to pay once.

He’s also offering you an EXCLUSIVE 30% discount on the pricing.

Here are the plans he’s offering to you:

  1. Unlimited License for 1 PC/Mac – One time payment for $89.99
  2. Unlimited License for 5 PCs/Macs – One time payment of $124.99
  3. Unlimited License for UNLIMITED PCs/Macs – One time payment of $149.99

Make sure you use the Discount Code EYE-K1RN when you choose a plan and get to the shopping cart. It will take 30% off the pricing right there.

Once again, use the 30% Discount Code Discount Code EYE-K1RN.

It’s also coming with a 30 day no hassle and no questions asked refund policy. If the backup solution isn’t what you want, send an email and cancel and you’ll get your money back immediately. No questions asked.

It’s a good deal because it’s a set and forget deal – once you get it, you can install the software a week later, a month later, whenever. No monthly or annual fees = no pressure.

This sounds good, however I am concerned about the amount of storage. I currently have about 500GB of Live KPop concerts on my HDD with the BigBang concerts (everyone of them) in the size range of 9+GB would I be able to store something that size on DrivePop or is there a size restriction? Add to this most if not all on the CD releases of my favorite KPop artists and of course mountains of music videos.

Is “UNLIMITED” truly Unlimited or is there a catch?

I’ll invite Rob on here to answer your questions directly. My understanding is UNLIMITED as in “no limit at all”

Thanks so very much…Like I told Rob I had a good feeling about this offer since it came from you and your website.

1stkorean – there is no catch to this offer. You can upload all your concert vids regard less of the size and we don’t restrict bandwidth when you go over a certain file size like some other services limit. When we offer unlimited space that’s what it means. The only limitation is when it comes to external drives (USB, Firewire) these devices have a 5TB cap for each device. So if you happen to have an external drive over 5TB’s then it will stop when that is reached for that drive. Other than that if you have 2 internal drives on one PC and 2 on another and 1 on yet another, you are able to back all of those up without restriction.

We are just offering a cloud backup service the way it was meant to be offered, without the nickel and dimes. We do offer other cloud storage services if you wish to add on to your account or add other features. But when it comes to backing up data to the cloud, Unlimited means Unlimited.

since this was written as of August 21st, 2013 would your special offer last til September 3rd. i was looking at this cloud and wanted to look for reviews for drivepop. I got to say it is by far the best cloud setup i can see out there on the market right now. heck even if your offer on this page doesn’t last til the 3rd of September i am still inclined to get this cloud setup.

I’m sad to say that I’ve signed up for a one-time fee DrivePop plan at BitsDuJour. Backup is pretty and fast, but due to internal troubles, DrivePop folks are now charging monthly for a plan that was supposed to be… one-time fee. After wasting my time and my bandwidth uploading 800 GB of files to their servers, I am now quitting. I haven’t got it yet.

This makes sense and with these shops closing due to costs its good to have a backup of a back up. Will list it in the MyOffices directory business section for our users.
