Lenovo Will Reportedly Launch Its First Windows Phone 8.1 Handset This Summer

Microsoft has a few big things planned for this spring. Prime among them the unveiling (and eventual) release of Windows 8.1 Update 1, Windows Phone 8.1 and hopefully some new Surface hardware.

The biggest news, however, should be the long (delayed and) awaited release of Windows Phone 8.1 and what exactly does it bring — the next version of Redmond’s mobile platform is high on new features and enhancements to current ones, after all.

Fans and industry watchers are also interested in finding out how things shape up on the hardware front, particularly now that Microsoft announced nine new Windows Phone partners.

Chinese giant Lenovo has so far only focused on its entire line of smartphones on Android, but there is a thing called placing the eggs in multiple baskets, and the company is taking action.

It seems to have finally decided to launch its first Windows Phone 8.1 handset, and word is that the smartphone may be announced sometime next month, with a summer launch.

Now it is worth noting that this is not exactly a high end device, as the rumors point to the (4.5 or 5 inch) smartphone being powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 or 600 processor. But the company is said to be aiming to launch it for €300 outright in Russia, which translates to $415.

And chances are that price in other markets will probably be quite a bit lower.
