Acer Said To Be Developing Aspire Switch 10 Windows Hybrid

Acer. The company that has been in the news more for reasons wrong than right. But it appears that the hardware vendors is ready to turn things around by launching an interesting new product.

Brand vendors, these days, seem more and more interested in machines with multiple form factors.

Call them hybrids, 2-in-1, 3-in-1, 4-in-1, even 5-in-1, but these devices look like they are here to stay. Several companies like Lenovo, ASUS, HP and Toshiba have launched such machines, many of which have actually been reasonably well received.

Now Acer is ready to jump into the mix with a device like this of its very own.

According to this report, Acer is preparing Acer Aspire Switch 10 — which is a Windows 8.1 powered device that offers 10.1 inches of screen real estate in a sleek aluminum case. Users can use this device as a laptop, as well as enjoy a tablet experience at will, thanks to its removable keyboard.

A third mode of usage is called the Presentation mode, which is basically facing the screen away from the keyboard using the smart hinge. Here’s hoping it is strong enough for such abuse!

Unfortunately, these are all the details that are available right now, but we should have full specifications and availability details closer to launch, provided there is some truth to this report.
