Lumia 520 And 521 Now Account For Over Half Of The US Windows Phone Market

Will you look at that! It is not every day you see market numbers skew to this degree in favor of one device, or in this case two variants of one smartphone. But here you are.

According to the newest numbers from AdDuplex, based on data collected March 18 from 3,568 Windows Phone apps, the Lumia 521 sits comfortably in first place with a 36.8 percent share, while the Lumia 520 follows with 17.1 percent.

Combined, the two smartphones account for 53.9 percent of the Windows Phone use in the United States. The worldwide standings are not all that different, with the Lumia 520 dominating with 34.5 percent of the global Windows Phone market.

There are successes and there are certified success — this Lumia model is both.

Speaking of other models, the Lumia 1020 breaks into the top ten at number nine, with 2.5 percent of the US market captured. The Lumia 920 is still in third place with 7.4 percent.

Verizon also recently launched the Lumia Icon a few weeks back in the United States. However, it remains to be seen whether it can chart better success than what the Lumia 1020 and the Lumia 1520 achieved in their time at the top.

This holds particularly true when considering that a new family of Lumia handsets (the Lumia 930 and the Lumia 630) are destined for launch in the coming weeks.
