Malwarebytes Announces Plans To Support Windows XP For Life

Another one joins the cause! Windows XP will be retired next month, in a couple of weeks really, but this much is clear that the majority of security vendors will continue to support the ancient OS.

The recent past has seen several companies officially announced that they plan to stick around. Some have promised updates for up to 2 years, others 3, while a few adventurous ones have even given assurances of lifetime support.

Lifetime support of what, Windows XP, or the application, one might be inclined to ask.

Anyway, we now have another important security company that has announced that it will stand behind the old platform. For life, that is.

The latest version of this top security application has become available for users today — complete with a fresh new user interface, and a fresh new promise of supporting Windows XP through thick and thin. And there just might be a few of these occasions around now that support is ending.

Windows XP, the company says, makes up 20 percent of its userbase.

No wonder then, that they took this important decision, in order to protect not just Windows XP users, but computers running all newer versions of the operating system, including the modern ones like Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

For those of you that plan on sticking with Windows XP for the foreseeable future after the end of support, security applications like this that work in parallel with an antivirus are an absolute must.

On top of that, the premium version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware now comes with heuristics based detection support that detects malicious software based on its behavior to go with its Windows XP support for life.
