Internet Explorer 11 On Windows Phone 8.1 Benchmarked, Improvements Aplenty

For Microsoft, one of the more important parts of the mobile puzzle is the Internet Explorer web browser that is available on several of the company’s platforms.

Now, many early adapters of Windows Phone 8.1, the ones who deployed the Developer Preview version of the mobile operating system might have noticed the improvements Microsoft have bundled in with Internet Explorer 11.

And these benchmarks confirm just how solid these enhancements are.

Long story short, if you liked how Internet Explorer 10 rolled on Windows Phone 8, then you are going to absolutely love these under the hood improvements that are part of version 11.

Single core performance, expectedly, remains the same, due to the processor limitations, but all three test devices (Lumia 1520, 1020 and 720) delivered higher scores when running Windows Phone 8.1. Take a look at the results:

Several synthetic benchmarks show that Redmond have optimized all aspects of browsers, from JavaScript performance to HTML 5 rendering.

The most interesting bit here is that this is not even the final version of Windows Phone 8.1, and Microsoft is pretty much certain to further optimize the OS and the web browser before final release, set for arrival this summer.

Stay tuned for more on this, as we get closer to release.
