Microsoft Updates Several Apps, Including Skype And Weather

The start of a new month is usually when the teams over at Redmond unleash new versions of the default Windows 8 apps, and smack on target a few news ones are available.

Microsoft have refreshed a number of apps, seven in total.

Prime among them being the Metro flavor of Skype that comes with a few new options to go with bug fixes that address some issues present in the previous releases. Official release notes confirm that this new build of Skype now synchronizes favorites across devices.

This means that you can now have the same list of favorite contacts on all connected computers that are running Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1.

An important (and requested) new addition, it must be said!

Additionally, the app makes some minor changes to favorite and recent conversations, and these now take up less space on the screen — leaving more space available for the contact list.

The Weather app also got a look this time around. Powered by Bing, this latest build of the application primarily addresses many of the bugs and issues that were found in prior versions. The features list remains unchanged, however.

Bing Health & Fitness, Bing Sports, Bing Travel, Bing Finance and Bing News also get some touchups.
