Windows 8 And Windows 8.1 Market Share Eclipses Windows XP In Europe

One of the more important regions of the world is now almost off the Windows XP bandwagon. The newest numbers from the Old Continent suggest that Microsoft’s Modern OS is gaining pace.

Both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 are now heavily used in Europe.

Statistics from research firm StatCounter show that the combine market share of both operating systems is now bigger than Windows XP, which obviously, does not receive any support from Microsoft.

These numbers for the first 18 days of May 2014 show that the retired platform commands a 13.59 percent market share in the continent — while Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 together now make up a very solid 13.99 percent.

Still far, far away from challenging Windows 7 for the top spot, which is currently powering 54.92 percent of the computers in Europe, according to these statistics.

Which, in other words, means that Microsoft’s modern platform is still a couple of years away from taking the crown. But stranger things have happened in the world of technology!
