ASUS Zenbook NX500 Goes Official With Impressive 4K Display

The search for the best display on a laptop, and by that extension even on a PC, could well come to end with the ASUS Zenbook NX500. This new flagship ultrabook was officially unveiled at Computex 2014 last week.

And it ticks all the right checkboxes when it comes to hardware specifications.

The elegant premium feel is compounded by a completely aluminum chassis — no wonder that this machine has already been bestowed with the prestigious IF Design award so soon after the unveiling.

ASUS claims that the 15.6-inch IPS touchscreen offers 4K UHD resolution, and is the world’s first laptop to make use of the 3M QDEF technology of quantum dots that enable an ultra-wide color gamut of 100% NTSC, 108% Adobe RGB and 146% sRGB.

Add to this the TruVivid direct bonding technology that minimizes reflections, and you have got yourself a claim for the best laptop display on the market.

The Zenbook NX500 is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor and an NVIDIA GTX 850M graphics chip with 2GB of DDR5 video memory.

A 512GB PCI Express SSD, and up to two SATA 3 SSDs for a RAID array are available, along with three USB 3.0 ports in a device that weighs in just 2.2 kg (or 4.8 pounds). Missing details are when the ASUS Zenbook NX500 will hit the store shelves, and at what price.
