Here Are The Windows Phone 8.1 System Requirements

System requirements for software and games may not be all that imperative, what with the ever improving hardware, but there are some system requirements for Windows Phone 8.1 that you need to keep an eye on when upgrading.

First up is obviously a compatible handset.

All Windows Phone 8 smartphones are eligible for Windows Phone 8.1, from companies like Nokia, Samsung, HTC and Huawei. Though compatibility will vary depending on make and model.

Nokia is the king of the jungle here with their Lumia devices, but one can hope all other vendors have also made the necessary tests and tweaks at their end to roll out the update for their handsets — and roll them out as soon as possible.

You also need at least 1.5GB of free storage space on your phone.

It is recommended to have your device fully charged, or at least have enough battery juice for the install process to complete, which usually takes between 15 to 30 minutes.

However, this depends upon the amount of data you have stored on your smartphone.

Windows Phone 8.1 may even require up to 60 minutes to completely install if you are a heavy user and have a lot of stuff stored on your phone. But really, install times vary from device to device.

The update is set to go live any day now, and you can get a brief overview of all that is new in Windows Phone 8.1 here on the update history page that Microsoft have just recently updated.
