It appears that Windows Phone users are about to be treated with another big release soon. BlackBerry is ready to release its successful BBM messaging service for the platform.
The company confirmed the release of this official client during the July to August timeframe.
And true to this promise, the BBM app launched on the Windows Phone Store a few hours ago. That’s the good news. The bad news is that this is still the beta version of the application, a private beta as a matter of fact — meaning only a handful of users can download and take this app for a spin.
This is what the official description states:
“BBM for Windows beta. We’re getting ready to welcome Windows Phone users to the BBM community. BBM brings you together in the moment with friends and family through instant chats, voice calls, picture sharing, voice notes and more.”
Version 18.104.22.168 beta is up for grabs, by the way.
But the company is sure to provide more details on the release in the near future, along with when can we expect full availability.
The app surely has the potential to win over many Windows Phone users. And that is because of the gap left by the WhatsApp client for Windows Phone that is apparently not working quite as well for users, and rarely gets updated anymore.
