LG Working With Microsoft On Windows Phone, Threshold And TV

Of all Microsoft hardware partners, past and present, LG has been perhaps the most amusing case. The company has been completely out of the picture after releasing a Windows Phone 7 handset.

And it has, on multiple occasions, played down the talk for some new Windows Phone 8 hardware.

Even when Redmond announced a bunch of partners for its mobile operating system, the Korean company said that it had no firm plans of launching any Windows Phones in the immediate future, and did not actually have any such device on its product roadmap.

Well, roadmaps change, and we now have evidence that the rumors of LG retreating from the Windows Phone platform are just that — rumors.

If anything, the company may be planning to move beyond just smartphones.

A reference to a LinkedIn profile of Joong-Young Lee was recently tweeted that reveals that he is a Microsoft Program Manager, who has been working with the company since 1997. But the real fun starts when we read some of his duties at Microsoft Korea.

These include OEM project management work with LG, PC, Phone, TV on Windows Threshold and Windows Phone Blue. Wow, that is quite something, is it not?

Now whether or not these devices make their way to the market this year or the next, this much is definite that the company has been working on a few solutions, from Windows Phone 8.1 handsets to Windows devices like tablets and notebooks, to something related to television.

Nothing confirmed, of course, but something is surely cooking!
