LG Reportedly Launching LPAD and WPAD Windows 8.1 Tablets

The world of Windows 8.1 tablets just got a fair bit more interesting these past few months, and it seems that the good stuff is yet to come, with more and more companies jumping in.

Now there is word that LG might be launch its very own solutions — better in early, I say.

The company has found good success with its G Pad 8.3 tablet that launched towards the end of 2013, which offered a nice screen size of 8.3 inches. A bunch of affordable midrange solutions followed that Android tablet with displays of 7, 8 and 10.1 inches.

These too seem to be doing well enough, and LG is perusing further tablet opportunities.

This report claims that the company has recently filed for some new trademarks in the United States, trying to register the names LPAD and WPAD. Inspired choices, surely.

Chances are that these are tablets, surely, judging by the Pad moniker. And considering the company reserves the G Pad branding for its Android slates, it could mean that these could be powered by a different operating system.

Windows 8.1, you say?

It is not farfetched to assume that LG might be looking at two distinct Windows tablet lineups here, with one probably for business users. WPAD? Then again, it is not farfetched to assume that the company might be trying for a tablet powered by Chrome OS, as some recent rumors have suggested.

Either way, real interesting. Either way, we should find out soon.
