Lumia 830 Sports A 10 Megapixel PureView Camera

The PureView technology is going midrange. About time. Microsoft is gearing up to announce two new additions to the Lumia family, the Lumia 730 and the Lumia 830.

While the former is billed as a selfie smartphone, the latter is aimed at consumers that want a capable photography solution. Sure, there is the Lumia 1020, but it is not for everyone due to its high-end price. The Lumia 830 proves to be a torchbearer in this regard.

Positioned as a midrange device, the Lumia 830 comes with a 10 megapixel PureView camera on the rear that offers autofocus, LED flash and full HD 1080p video recording.

Obviously, as Nokia have proven, it is not the pixel count that matters for mobile cameras, but the underlying imaging technology, software processing and the hardware modules — and the Lumia 830 delivers in this regard.

We should find out how it compares to other smartphone cameras soon enough.

Lumia 830 is also set to be the thinnest Lumia device available on the market, and its metal frame will house a springy Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor. Exact clock speed is still under wraps, but it is expected to be around the 2.2GHz mark.

Microsoft is set to officially unveil the Lumia 830 at a special press conference on September 4, as part of the prestigious IFA 2014 event, which is set to kick off this week.

Stay tuned for the full details then.
