Nothing like a good word game to end the week, eh? Luckily, an excellent one just launched on the Windows Store, in the form of Letter Drop. Quirky name, sure, but the game is polished and enjoyable.
It can be described as a mix of Tetris and Scrabble.
You are tasked with creating words by dropping letters from the top of the board. That’s the Scrabble bit. And when you compile a word, it is automatically removed to make space for additional words. That’s the Tetris bit.
And here’s the official description bit:
“Devoted to Word Games? Vocabulary Enthusiast? LETTER DROP is the ultra-addictive and challenging word game for you! Drag and Drop the letters into the grid carefully to make words. The longer the word, the more points you get
Each level has a points target, as well as specially crafted Goals to add to the challenge. Don’t get stumped though, if you fill up the grid with letters, the game is over!”
The vanilla gameplay of this free game has been spiced up with power ups like bombs, while you also get options to switch letters in order to help you achieve the target.
All this makes for a very challenging experience — you have to balance out your point target, while at the same time avoiding the letters to drop at the top of the board. Visual presentation? Top notch. Not universal, but available for x86, x64 and ARM.
