Karbonn Titanium Wind W4 Debuts As The Most Affordable Windows Phone

What would you say to a Windows Phone powered smartphone for just $98? Outright, of course. The Karbonn Titanium Wind W4 is now available, and it is available at a very affordable price.

It has, in fact, nudged the Nokia Lumia 530, by a hair.

That budget Lumia handset can be purchased in India for the sweet sum of $99 off contract, while this Karbonn device is a dollar cheaper. What do you miss out on at this rate? Well, nothing much, expect the usual splattering of exclusive Nokia apps that are available on Lumia branded smartphones.

Microsoft is staying firm on the policy of this exclusivity.

Still, the various new Windows Phone partners like Fly, ARCHOS, Micromax and Prestigio, Alcatel, BLU, ZTE and Fly will not mind this at all — as long as they get Windows Phone without any licensing fees.

Most of these companies are successful in their local markets, and most of them plan to launch these new Windows Phone handsets over there to fill in the gaps. Lumia devices will always be available in local markets, with the end choice residing with the buyers.

So what do you get inside the Titanium Wind W4?

Apart from the lack of any Nokia apps and services, a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 512MB of RAM (not enough), and only 4GB of internal memory. Luckily, the included microSD card slot is there for the rescue job.

Pretty budget specifications, but then again, the price matches the hardware.

A 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display supports 800 x 480 pixels resolution, and imaging duties are handled by a 5 megapixel back camera and a VGA front option for video calls and, well, selfies.
