Lumia Emerald Is The Next Windows Phone Firmware

The Lumia Denim firmware is slated for rollout in the coming weeks, but we already have signs of Lumia Emerald, which by some accounts is the next Windows Phone firmware.

The successor to Lumia Denim has been revealed in the form of leaked screenshots.

And in many ways this makes sense.

If you take a look at the Lumia firmware names that Nokia has released in the past, you have Amber (A), followed by Black (B) and then Cyan (C). Denim (D) is almost ready to be released on compatible Windows Phone handsets, meaning Emerald (E) could well be the next name in this queue.

Lumia Emerald Firmware

Obviously, nothing from Microsoft in this regard — it surely is much too early for the company to be talking about it right now, considering Lumia Emerald might only arrive in the first months of 2015.

What it will bring to the table is still under wraps.

The above photo indicates a number of change, including a refreshed Extras + Info app, along with a new SpamFilter version. A fair bit more must be in tow, surely.

For the meantime, all the focus is on the Lumia Denim release, which is already available on a number of devices by default. And Microsoft seems to be looking at a general release, a global rollout for everyone by the end of the month.
