Windows, Office Getting 16 Security Updates Next Week

The Update Tuesday cycle for November is here, and Microsoft has announced no less than 16 security updates for Windows and Office that will be released next week.

Tuesday, November 11, 2014 to be exact.

Windows is the main event, as almost all versions of the operating system gets updated. The OS also gets the majority of improvements, 5 of which come with the Critical rating, and 4 of these require system restarts.

Important stuff, it seems.

System administrators will simply have to make preparations and save the states of their computers before deploying the related updates.

Windows 10 is also in on the action, and the Windows Technical Preview is set to receive 4 updates via the integrated Windows Update option in the operating system. If you’re running this test build of Microsoft’s flagship OS, then be prepared for some downloads.

Same goes for Office, Internet Explorer and .NET Framework users, as they’ll also be getting security updates as part of next week’s release.

Internet Explorer in particular gets a high priority update, starting from Internet Explorer 6 on Windows Server 2003 and going all the way up to Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1.

As is usually the case, all patches and updates will be shipped via the Windows Update option.
