Microsoft Lumia 940 Specifications Leak Out

That’s more like it! With Windows Phone focusing on midrange and budget devices, the platform has lost a bit of luster. The Microsoft Lumia 940, however, aims to set things straight.

Some early specifications of the device have leaked out, which is set to take its place as the successor to the popular Lumia 930. And appropriately enough, Redmond seems to be preparing some notably powerful hardware underneath.

This leaked specifications sheet reveals that the upcoming device is going to be a powerhouse — both in terms of hardware and software.

For starters, we have Windows Phone 10 on the cards, and since Microsoft’s new mobile operating system is expected to be here by the middle of next year, same goes for the release timeframe of the Lumia 940.

The new flagship, it is being said, will be here come summer 2015.

It arrives with a 5-inch 1080p display that features Gorilla Glass 4, which again, it not available right now. A 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor handles processing duties, alongside 3GB of RAM. Quite enough to separate it from the Lumia 930.

Which actually comes with a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon chip.

In terms of the camera, expect one of the best on smartphones. An advanced 24 megapixel rear camera to go with a 5 megapixel front option is likely to be offered. The rear camera is expected to offer 4K recording capabilities at 60fps. Impressive.

The Lumia 940 is said to be just 1 mm thicker than its predecessor, according to the above leak, with a weight of just 149 grams, compared to the 167 grams of the Lumia 930.

Obviously, all of the above is unconfirmed, but there finally is some movement on the Windows Phone front in terms of a new flagship, and a brand new series of new hardware. About time!
