Space simulator games are tough business. For players, they take some effort to learn, for developers a lot of effort to develop. Strike Wing: Raptor Rising arrives as a fine option for Windows Phone users.
Already available for iOS and Android, the port recently launched on the Windows Phone Store, bringing with it stunning graphics, fluid controls and an array of ships to pilot. The campaign missions may be a little on the easier side of things, but they still remain engaging and involving.
A look at the official description:
“Take over the stars, blast through enemy fighter waves and destroy capital ships while piloting the most advanced fighters in the galaxy.
Strike Wing is a single player space combat simulator that combines sharp controls, beautiful graphics and adaptable missions to create an unique space combat experience for mobile devices.”
While games like this are highly complex on desktop platforms like the PC, the developers have opted for an old school experience, which still offers combat depth along with richly detailed 3D visuals. For a mobile game, this one is quite intricately detailed.
As this launch trailer so aptly illustrates:
Controls are what make or break games like this, no matter the platform. And while you will have to make some concession regarding them on your smartphone, for the most part they work. The game retails for $2.99, comes with in-app purchases, but offers a free trial version to test things out.
