Zynga was the hottest name in social gaming a few years back, but the company has now launched several games on the Windows Store. FarmVille 2 is now available for Windows 8, in portable form.
At its core, the game is a basic farming simulator, with a casual touch, of course.
After setting up your farms, you construct new buildings to store or process food, and then sell them on the market. You can either grow plants on your farmland or add cattle. The game has solid depth to it, but more on that below.
The official description, first:
“Escape to the world of farming, friends and fun! Go on farm adventures to collect rare goods and craft new recipes. Raise animals and grow your farm with friends. Join a farm Co-Op to trade and share or play on your own in Anonymous Mode. You can play FarmVille anytime, anywhere… even when not connected to the internet. Best of all, the world’s most popular farming game is free to play!”
While it is possible to sell goods you product on the market, many of them can also be used directly on the farm. For example, wheat can feed the cows and you can then sell the milk they produce for a profit.
The depth also extends to how you can buy adjacent land to grow your farm, chat and trade with other players, or even connect your Facebook farm to get bonuses. Free, works on all versions of Windows 8, including ARM, and a remarkably well designed game, particularly for fans.
