Microsoft Officially Announces The Lumia 532

Along with announcing the Lumia 435, Microsoft has also officially released a new Windows Phone device in the form of the Lumia 532, which offers a slightly better feature set.

In the same, highly affordable price, of course.

But while the Lumia 435 is designed as the most affordable Windows Phone handset on the market, the Lumia 532 actually aims to iron out issues with the previously available devices in this range, namely the popular Lumia 530 and the recent Lumia 535.

Microsoft has designed both these budget smartphones to compete against cheap Android phones in markets where affordable handsets sell in large numbers.

In a statement, Jo Harlow, corporate vice president for phones at Microsoft, said:

“With the Lumia 435 and Lumia 532, we’ve realized our goal of creating the most affordable Lumia devices to date, opening up the opportunity to reach those people who are buying a smartphone for the very first time.

Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 deliver competitive hardware alongside innovative software that will continue to receive the very latest updates and enhancements, keeping users up-to-date with the best new features.”

This video details the new device:

When it comes to hardware, the Lumia 532 is quite similar in terms of specifications.

Though it offers a 4-inch display with an 800 x 400 pixels resolution, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. A 5 megapixel back camera improves things on the back, thought the front still houses the same VGA option.

The battery is also similar at 1560 mAh, which should be enough to go through the day.

The Lumia 532 is set to become available in markets around the globe, starting next month, in multiple colors, and single and dual SIM variants for $85.
