Tetris, along with a certain game that goes by the name of Pacman, is one of the most popular video games of all time. And just like Pacman, Tetris also has had several unlicensed clones that have made their way to the market.
For better or for worse, the same is the case on the Windows Store.
Several independent developers have created both Pacman and Tetris clones — some of these apps are of rather low quality, while others come with that required polish. File My Tetris as a polished one.
Before we get to the features, the simple and humble official description in its entirety:
“A new version of the classic Tetris game from 1984, for you to play and train your logic in a fun way. Play in classic mode or in advanced mode with pieces in different formats which increases even more the challenge.”
While this is indeed a shiny new version of Tetris, this simple puzzle game, available with a freeware license, offers the same engaging gameplay that you would expect. The presentation, however, is pretty well rounded with smooth and slick backgrounds.
The most recent update claims to bring several improvements to the game. But as things stand, this is one of the best alternatives until an official Tetris game comes around for Windows 8. Maybe even the best. It is available for both Windows 8 and Windows RT.
