The bona fide hit Nokia Music app on Lumia devices has long been anticipated for the Windows 8 platform. The Windows Phone version of the app offered unlimited streaming of music for a $4 a month.

Now Nokia has just launched the Windows 8 and Windows RT version of the application.

The app obviously offers a free trial for the company’s Nokia Music+ service but you will still need a Lumia smartphone and sign up for the service in order to use it full time from within the Windows 8 app. This is a tad disappointing, but understandable, nevertheless.

Here is a small selection from the mile long official description:

“Love music? Nokia Music for Windows 8 is a complete playback and discovery experience for your computer. If you already have a Nokia Music+ subscription on your Nokia phone, just sign in to get all the great features from your phone directly on your computer.

If you’ve never had the pleasure of using a Nokia phone, you’re still invited to the party! Try our completely free trial and have a listen. We think you’re going to love what we’ve got.”

Similar to the Windows Phone 8 app, the Windows 8 and RT version allows subscribers to play and download from its library of 20 million tracks. Not just that, it also includes hundreds of custom playlists created by Nokia for several music genres.

The app also offers Windows 8 Live Tile support, and it shows the music artist that is playing in the Live Tile on the Start Screen. Better yet, the feature rich app also gives the ability to wirelessly stream whatever it is playing to smart TVs and DLNA enabled devices.
