Another immensely popular Windows Phone title has marked its arrival on the Windows Store. Ragdoll Run is one of the most downloaded games on the Windows Phone platform, and has recently been ported to Windows 8.
This free title is one of the best looking games available for Microsoft’s flagship platform right now.
The gameplay is similar to popular endless runner games like Temple Run (and its myriad of clones), but with a couple of unique aspects. The game has you running around on cubes, meaning your character cannot change its direction.
Here is a selection from the official description:
“Ragdoll Run is easy to pick up, impossible to put down. Tired of long tutorials before the action starts? Just tap the screen to jump and swipe to rotate the stage when on green blocks, or use the left and right mouse buttons. Now you are ready to choose a character and start running!”
Nevertheless, the game is both engaging and entertaining. The gameplay mechanics include the ability to rotate some cubes by 90 degrees in order to change the path the character is running. If you are running on brown cubes, however, you cannot rotate the cubes.
The visuals, as noted above, are top notch — high definition graphics running at 60 frames. There are plenty of unlockable characters, and the developers have also integrated a shop that can be used to upgrade powers or purchase new ragdolls and themes.
The latest update has brought updated 3D models of all ragdolls for high resolution devices. The game is available for all versions of Windows, including ARM.
