Microsoft may already be working on an alarms app for the upcoming refresh of its platform, Windows 8.1, but since this is a much needed functionality, third-party developers have stepped in to fill the gap.
There are a number of clock and alarm applications available on the Windows Store, but when it comes to reminders, you will have to look really hard to find an app with more functions than RemindMe for Windows.
The official description goes something like this:
“RemindMe integrates deeply with Windows 8. Get toast notifications for reminders, see your next reminders on the live tile, and stay up to date on the lock screen. Pin the compose screen to Start to quickly create new reminders.”
The app allows easy creation of timed reminders, which can then be easily tracked via live countdowns. And more importantly this free app is completely integrated with Windows 8 — meaning you get Live Tiles, notifications as well as lock screen integration.
One thing that could use some polish is the overall design. The UI is serviceable at best.
But if you want to quickly create reminders, relative or absolute, this app has got you covered. It is available for all versions of Windows 8, and comes completely optimized for touch usage.
