Torrent apps on the Windows store that offer support for Windows RT are few and far between. A number of paid solutions are available, but freeware options are rather limited.

One recent addition to the list of free Torrent applications is an app by Jujuba Software, simply called Torrent that 8 that allows Windows 8 users to download files via the BitTorrent protocol straight from the Modern UI.

The official description states:

“Jujuba Software Torrent allows you to download files, videos and music via BitTorrent protocol from the comfort and security of Windows 8 UI. Supports both magnet URL and Torrent file downloads.”

One look at the app and it becomes evident that it packs support for only the most basic of features. A minimal interface displays the list of torrent files being downloaded, the download and uploads speeds, status, and the total number of seeders and leechers.

A small log panels displays the performed activities.

The design and UI of the app, however, is as basic as they come. It is Metro, um, inspired, but could use several coats of paint. Ultimately, however, it is the functionality that takes precedence, and the app does what it is supposed to do.

The most recent update has fixed magnet link support, along with stability improvements. The free app works perfectly on all Windows 8 platforms, including ARM.
