So here’s an interesting preview of holiday pricing for ASUS products.

This leaked roadmap shows prices for the ASUS Vivo Tab, ASUS Vivo Tab RT and the ASUS Taichi.

This is some pretty pricey hardware. The RT tab is going to be $800 (with docking), the Vivo Tab will be $1000 and the Taichi is $1300.

Maybe it’s just me but these prices seem extremely high for an Operating System that isn’t a know quantity yet. $800 is almost an iPad 3 64 gig with Wi-fi and cellular.

Yes I know it’s Apples and Oranges but I’m not sure that they will be able to move a stunning amount of units at this price…

I thought the same thing when I saw these prices earlier. I think Asus needs to have a talk with Steve Ballmer about the possible price structure of the MS Surface.

there will be plenty of competition. I dont think Asus will do well with these prices. Windows machines sell because they are a deal versus over priced Apple. In tablets, Apple is the known quantity. If OEMs want to break into the market they are going to have to undersell Apple while maintaining good quality. These prices just don’t cut it.
