In all the news about the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 launches, it has been difficult to find out what Microsoft’s Chairman has to say about the new direction for the company’s flagship OS.

Bill Gates answers questions about both OSs in this video as well as on Microsoft Surface. He stresses the “unification” aspect of the OS, or the benefits of running the OS (or variants therof) on various platforms – smartphone, tablet and PC/notebook.

Gates also talks up integration of the OSs with the cloud (via SkyDrive) and the personalization options available.  Gates is bullish about the Surface, as a tablet with “PC” capabilities and owns a Surface RT – one of the first ones off the line (of course!)

Enjoy the interview.
