Interesting video from Eric Savitz at Forbes.

He discusses what the Microsoft Surface really means about Microsoft going forward and his thoughts about Microsoft potentially acquiring mobile phone company Nokia.

I still personally think RIM would make more sense but that’s just me.

Here’s the video.

I think buying Nokia makes a lot of sense.  They are tooled up to make Windows 8 phones and have already mostly absorbed most of the costs of conversion to MS OS.  And right now they are a steal with stock price of the company equaling their patent value.

The only reason to buy RIM would be for their patents which is no small thing as Nokia patents are already in MS pockets.  The hardware and OS have to be ditched and that is not a quick switch as Nokia already proved.

I have been thinking for a couple weeks now, that MS is probably considering buying Nokia.  It would instantly have the investors liven up as they would know MS is in for the long haul and has the pocket money to do it.

The only way MS should even consider it, is if they have already produced an in house phone prototype of the quality they have with the Surface.
