It seems that Nokia is awfully close to releasing the Lumia 525, and the company does not want to waste time getting this affordable handset to store shelves, ahead of the shopping season.

Only yesterday did we get our look at the upcoming handset, the spiritual successor to the insanely popular Lumia 520 entry level smartphone. And now the full specifications of the handset have leaked out, hinting that an official launch is near.

First things first, then. The press render that has also leaked out shows that the smartphone very closely resembles the Lumia 520. But there are a few upgrades under the hood.

As this report reveals, the Lumia 525 houses 1GB of RAM — double the amount in the Lumia 520.

Reset of the specifications are quite similar. The Nokia Lumia 525 makes use of the 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. A 5 megapixel rear facing camera with autofocus offers HD video recording at 720p, but an LED flash is not part of the package.

The smartphone features a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with an 800 by 480 pixels resolution, translating to a 233ppi pixel density. The display has 2D hardened glass and offers super sensitive touch perfect for fingernail and glove usage.

Internal storage capacity comes in at 8GB, and a microSD card slot for memory expansion offers additional capacity of up to 64GB. Throw in the 7GB free from SkyDrive, and it becomes room enough.

The budget smartphone is powered by Windows Phone 8, and comes with a 1430 mAh Li-Ion battery. Connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, Nokia Bluetooth Stereo Headphones and microSD.

However, the battery timings are yet to be confirmed, but should be as we get nearer to launch.
