With Windows 8, Microsoft announced a new category of app, which they named Metro.

These apps are full screen, “fast and fluid”. They also consume very less memory in comparison to their desktop counterparts.

With the introduction of these new type of app, Microsoft decided to create a new way to deliver these apps to your Windows 8 PC.

The Windows Store is the source of Windows 8 applications and can be accessed from your Windows 8 Release Preview.
