The VLC app for Windows 8 is, undoubtedly, the most anticipated application for Microsoft’s newest platform. In development right now, it is nearing its release date in the coming months.

Along with several much-needed features, the app is expected to sport an engaging design utilizing everything the Metro UI (or Modern user interface) of Windows 8 has to offer.

Now, the VLC developers have just given us a look at how things will look once the app is released. A new set of screenshots showing the upcoming Windows RT flavored version of their multimedia player have just surfaced.

The update was provided in a post on the app’s Kickstarter page:

“The biggest result is that we have now cut down 90% of our symbols that are forbidden on Metro Mode.”

While the team did say that the app is showing what you would call “tremendous progress”, no timeframe for release has been provided. But then again, hard to argue with a word like tremendous!

Nevertheless, the screenshots provide a glimpse of what’s cooking. As you can see, the interface is high on eye-candy and features a completely touch optimized design. But being a work in progress, expect things to change before the app is released.
