The preview version of Windows 8.1 is almost here, but rumors and speculation pertaining to the upcoming operating system continues to hit the web.
The latest in this matter is a list of the builds that Microsoft has prepared for the first major upgrade to its flagship OS. These have just been leaked, and confirm that we are now very close to the public beta of the operating system.
The release schedule is published over at WindowsBleu and reveals that the development of Windows 8.1 is soon to hit the Milestone Preview stage. In fact, screenshots showing the build 9422 have already surfaced on various websites.

Additionally, Microsoft is expected to release just a single public beta of the operating system, before a final stable release follows around two months after that.
Obviously, none of this is official, so take everything with a grain of salt and wait until the Preview version is released by Redmond later this month at the BUILD developer conference.
