More Than 200 Million Windows 8 Licenses Sold, Microsoft Confirms

Remember Tami Reller? The senior Microsoft executive? Of course, you do. She has been out the spotlight these past couple of months, but nevertheless, leads up marketing work at Redmond.

Another things that has been out of spotlight recently are some Microsoft certified statistics.

For a company that used to throw around (lofty) numbers left and right, the software titan has been rather subdued in talking about sales and statistics. The last time we heard Microsoft reveal Windows sales statistics was in May 2013.

Then again, these are early days for two of its operating platforms, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.

Speaking of the former, we now know that the company has sold well over 200 million Windows 8 licenses up until now — a sky high a number as any, by all counts.

Coincidently enough, this information comes straight from Tami Reller, during the Goldman Sachs Technology & Internet Conference.

In the same call, Mary Jo Foley learned that Microsoft is now working on making Windows work better on smaller screen sized devices. A sign of things to come? Surface Mini, perhaps?

Anyway, for those of you into numbers, the current rate of sales, from launch up until today comes in at slightly over 420,000 licenses per day. Crunch that!
