ITG working on a Windows 8 powered smartphone

Taiwan-based company, ITG have announced that they are working on a succor to their XP powered phone the xpPhone, this time powered by Microsoft’s Windows 8.

ITG xpPhone 2 will have the Windows 8 metro interface.

xpPhone 2 will be 140 mm long, 73 mm wide and 17.5mm thick which is pretty thick for a contemporary smartphone.

RAM will total 2GB, and the amount of storage memory could be up to 112GB, depending on the SSD you buy.

It’s not clear what the processor speed will be but their previous phone was clocked at 1.6ghz.

The Metro user interface in Windows 8 will be displayed on a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen.

It’s also not clear what camera or how many cameras this phone will have but based on their statements,  the xpPhone 2 will have about 18.5 hours of talk time on a single charge.

No information about price or launch date but 2012 seems like a smart bet.

Pretty ambitious and with up to 112 gig on a cell phone, the applications that may be running on phones next year could be really bananas.

2012 will be the year of the smart phone is seems..
