Redmond continues to attract publications around the world to its new Windows 8 platform, and this time the company has joined forces with The Independent.
The British publisher has partnered up with Microsoft to bring the freshest of news to the popular Bing News app.
A report over at The Drum says that The Independent is the sixth major UK media company that has signed up. Other major publishers that are already available in Bing News include names like The Times, Guardian and Sky News.
The Bing News app provides instant access to the latest news straight from the Metro UI. Several categories are offered, and the app is completely optimized for touch.
And the best news is that The Independent will publish its entire newspaper in the app — including the opinion section and editorials. All said and done, this is another small milestone for Microsoft, in its bid to offer the best of experiences to Windows 8 users.
In fact, the technology titan, in these past few months, has made some rather large strides in taking the overall Windows experience to the next level, at least when it comes to Modern apps.
Not only is the Windows Store finally picking up pace with the overall all count approaching the 100,000 mark, Redmond regularly updates and enhances the built-in Metro apps for Windows 8 to optimize them before Windows 8.1 (codename Windows Blue) hits general availability.
