Satya Nadella, the new man in charge at Redmond, seems like a guy that loves to take on challenges. His job at Microsoft is a task in of itself, but the new CEO is ready and willing to accept more.

Case in point, how he ended up being soaking wet with ice cold water —for a good cause, that is.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (commonly known as ALS) is a lethal disease that apparently kills one American every 90 minutes. Satya took the challenge to raise awareness for this after he was asked by a former pro football player who is suffering from this ailment.

Steve Gleason, as you may recall, appeared in the “Empowering” commercial that Microsoft aired during the Superbowl this year. He asked the Microsoft CEO to participate in the famous ALS ice bucked challenge, and Nadella obliged.

The rules of this fun game are simple enough. The participant is to be drenched in cold water, record everything and then post the video on YouTube. With that done, the contestant has the right to challenge other people to do the same thing.

Gleason challenged Nadella in a tweet on Wednesday, and Nadella having accepted it, has now called for Jeff Bezos of Amazon and Larry Page of Google to do the same in order to raise awareness.

Just in case you are wondering, several other famous figures have also taken this challenge, including Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, who has in turn called for Bill Gates to do it too. Can’t wait until the Microsoft co-founder comes in contact with ice cold water.
