Microsoft Cooking A Snapdragon 845 Device?

Do you smell it? A job listing has revealed that Microsoft is working on a Snapdragon 845 device, which as you may be aware is the, as of yet, unannounced processor from Qualcomm.

Redmond has worked closely with Intel over the decades, but it is now showing an increased interest in the chips that the mobile processor giant creates. So much so that Windows 10 ARM is a thing, and these devices are expected to be unveiled before the end of the year.

Which isn’t all that far away, when you think of it.

Just days remain now.

Anyway, while these upcoming machines will be housing the Snapdragon 835 processor, it looks like the software titan is already looking at the latest and greatest from Qualcomm.

This recent report reveals that the company is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer, or in other words, a Manufacturing Engineer that is familiar with the Snapdragon 845 chip.

This is a full-time job at Redmond, though the posting does not reveal what kind of mobile products Microsoft will be working on. It still makes it clear that knowledge of how antennas works inside portable wireless devices is required.

On top of that, hands-on experience in design, development, and launch of high-volume consumer electronics products is also a necessity.

Considering the fact that Qualcomm is yet to announce the Snapdragon 845 processor, it is very much possible that Microsoft may have a new device powered by this chip in store for 2018. Whether that is a smartphone, tablet, or a PC, or something else entirely, remains to be seen.

Any guesses?
