It is the season of savings! Promotions are flying left and right as the festive season approaches, and Microsoft just launched the 12 Days of Deals promotion to join in the fun.

Some amazing offers are sure to debut in the run up to Christmas.

One of the first bargains lined up in this special discount campaign is for one of the newest additions to the Windows ecosystem β€” the Toshiba Encore Mini Windows 8.1 tablet that just went on sale a little while back.

Although the 7-inch device normally retails for $119, it has made appearances for just $99 at several retailers, including Microsoft Store.

Today, though, it is on sale for just $79, and comes with a 16GB microSD card free, along with a complimentary one year subscription to Office 365 Personal, which itself offers unlimited OneDrive cloud storage for users.

The Office subscription is worth $69.99, and a lot of places list the microSD card for $19.99, meaning you are essentially getting the Toshiba Encore Mini for free.

That is, if you can get your hands on the deal.

A round up of the hardware specifications of the device. It offers a quad-core 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z3735G processor that is paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage.

You also get a 2 megapixel rear and a front facing camera on this budget tablet that weighs around 350g and offers upwards of 7 hours of battery life. Powered by Windows 8.1, of course, perfect for everyday computing tasks and all that.

The 12 Day of Deals promotion is going to continue, though, so expect plenty such deals.
