Microsoft Releases The Windows 8.1 Update Power User Guide

Windows 8.1 Update is on track to be unveiled to users later today via Windows Update, and in order to ensure that everyone knows what is new in this new version, the company has rolled out a power user guide for businesses.

End users are more than welcome to check it out too!

As is usually the case with previous such guides released by Redmond, this one comes in the form of a handy little PDF document that can be opened up by the built in reader in Windows 8.1, or any other application that can view this file format.

It comes with information on the changes that Windows 8.1 Update brings.

Expectedly, the focus is on traditional PC, showing how this new version of operating system is better for desktop computers. This is what Microsoft has to say on the matter:

“With the new Windows, you have everything you need to work efficiently. Your familiar desktop is better than ever with advanced functionalities, like the new customizable taskbar and streamlined file management. Internet Explorer 11 gives you instant and fluid access to the world. And best of all, you can use all these features feeling confident that your important data is secure.”

The 20 page guide has several sections that go over features like the desktop, taskbar, apps and services, File Explorer, the Windows Mobility Center, Windows To Go, OneDrive and more.

You can download the guide here.

For a lot of us, this may seem pretty obvious, but there’s a lot of users out there who wouldn’t know where to begin. For that reason alone, it’s important to release these.

I love this. Even though I love computers and the application software, I’m ignorant on a majority of the cool features they possess. This will help me get a little closer to understanding everything I can.

This is something all companies should learn from. It promotes the brand and makes sure the user knows what to do. Microsoft is also really push IE11 here, which isn’t surprising either.

This should really help those who always claim that windows 8 is hard to use. Only if they would spend time to read.
