The launch of the Lumia 735 in the United States is in doubt, as Microsoft has quietly removed the anticipated handset from its US website. As things stand it might not launch stateside.

Unveiled earlier this year, this midrange device was expected to hit US shores at some point in the future, but Redmond seems to have changed mind overnight. Up until today, the device had been listed as “coming soon” on the Microsoft Mobile US website.

But as reported, device handset is no longer available there, and all pages appear to have been removed by the company. Quite a twist.

The decision does sound surprising, as Microsoft has outlined desire to expand the Windows Phone lineup with as many devices as possible — maybe it will pop up back, or maybe the company is planning a newer handset for the US market.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

Just as a refreshed, the Lumia 735 was announced this September, running Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box in a 4.7-inch package running a resolution of 1280 x 720.

A Gorilla Glass coating protects the screen, and underneath it lies 8GB of internal storage, 1GB memory, and a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. Camera options include an okay 6.7 megapixel on the front, and a 5 megapixel shooter on the front.
