The big day is almost here for America, and Microsoft is ready to celebrate the moment. The company has just created a special new section on the Windows Store for the 4th of July.

The business of these unique subcategories slowed down a bit these past few months, but business on the Windows Store picked up — numerous important apps made their debut on the platform, and many are about to. This new selection highlights some of these noteworthy applications.

This particular list includes weather and cooking apps, travel tools, hotel reservation programs to go with a couple of handy photography applications.

This is what the description states:

“Happy birthday, America! Prepare yourself for outdoor BBQs, fireworks, and family fun with this collection of patriotic apps.”

Almost all of the apps included in this section come with support for both the desktop and tablet versions of the operating system, and most are offered as a free download.

A total of 17 apps are part of this temporary new subsection, so if you want to take them for a spin, fire up the Windows Store on you Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device and hurry up to see what all the hustle is about. And maybe even download a few?
