Talk about smart product placement.
Microsoft is dead set on making its Surface tablets a success, as the company continues its marketing blitz to showcase the mainstream public how cool (for the lack of a better word) its devices are.
We have had a bunch of great television ads already, now add product placement to the list.
As you can see in the video below, Surface makes an extended appearance in the new episode of ABC’s sitcom series Suburgatory. Looks like Microsoft most definitely spent a handful of coins to advertise its new tablet:
Surface sales in the recent weeks have slowed down a tad, particularly with Microsoft announcing the Pro version of the tablet set for release in a couple of months’ time.
With the holiday season fast approaching, this seems like a good trick to garner some mainstream attention. Smart product placements like these make much more sense than regular ads.
This, however, isn’t the first time Microsoft has turned to popular television series in the United States to promote its products. Apple also pulled a similar stunt a while back when it promoted its iPad tablet in a Modern Family episode.
