Microsoft will allow Windows 8 users to downgrade

Microsoft is apparently allowing Windows 8 Pro users to downgrade their new PCs to Windows 7 or Windows Vista Business edition.

This according to the Windows 8 licensing agreement.

Users will not be able to downgrade to Windows XP (THANK GOD – let it go people!!).

“Instead of using the Windows 8 Pro software, you may use one of the following earlier versions: Windows 7 Professional or Windows Vista Business,” the license agreement for Windows 8 Pro states.

This is a smart way to give consumers some assurances that they will have options no matter which OS they choose.

Is this a good thing? I don’t like that people are being allowed to avoid Windows 8, especially when it’s so good and Microsoft have so much faith in it. Gives out the wrong impression.

It is unavoidable. Even Win7 is proved to be a lot better than XP; there are still over 40% of users keep their XP running without upgrade.

I strongly feel that the net connectivity for broadband users, Win7 is much much better than XP as the speed to increased by at least 40% in 7 compared to XP.

BTW, how far is this acceptable to downgrade to Win7 or Vista from Win 8 ?
