With a little help from the court, that is. The Moscow District Federal Court ruled in favor of Microsoft after the company claimed rights over the domain name.

Windows.ru was previously owned by a Russian businesschap by the name of Dmitry Shapovalov. And no, that’s not him in the image above, in case you were wondering.

Shapovalov’s website hosted information about aircrafts equipment, which Microsoft somehow believed could infringe the Windows trademark.

According to RAPSI, the Moscow Commercial Court had recognized Microsoft’s right on the domain name on April 17 this year.

Microsoft has already taken control of the domain name and pointed it to the official Russian website of its Windows operating system.

The website retains the Windows 8 inspired design that is being used on other corporate Windows OS websites around the world.
